Donna McIntosh Celebrates 25 Years’ Service at J&G Grant

Donna

March 2017 saw the family and staff at J&G Grant help Donna McIntosh celebrate 25 years’ service – with cake, gifts and maybe even a dram!

In 1992 Donna arrived as a part-time guide, fitting in perfectly as she learned and subsequently taught visitors all there is to know about Glenfarclas whisky production and the Grant family.  One fellow guide at the time told her to “stick at it”, advice she thankfully listened to as she went on to become Visitor Centre Manageress in 1999.  Along with her team of guides, Donna professionally managed the tours and maintained the beautiful Visitor Centre that so many have been able to enjoy.   A desire to spend more time with her grandchildren saw Donna pass on the managerial duties to a colleague in 2015.  Nowadays she still enjoys her role as a guide and assists the new manager where she can.

As we celebrated in the Ships Room, Donna recounted one of her fondest Glenfarclas memories; being taught how to play “52-card pickup” by a younger George Grant (now Sales Director and of course sixth generation of the Grant family)!

It goes to show that there is more to this family business than just business – and that is what works so well.

Thank you for all the hard work, Donna.

This month J. & G. Grant introduce the final limited edition to the Family Collector Series, the Glenfarclas 1976 40 Years Old VI. George S. Grant, Sales Director and 6th generation of the family, reaches his 40th birthday today and what better way to celebrate than launch a special whisky for the occasion! Born in 1976, George takes great pleasure in sharing the last of the 1976 Glenfarclas casks with you. He is passionate about Glenfarclas and particularly enjoys introducing whisky lovers to these older expressions of Glenfarclas, those distilled by his grandfather and watched over by his father. He comments “The 1970s was a key time period in Glenfarclas history as this is when my grandfather decided to push sales of Glenfarclas single malt, combined with my father’s efforts in appointing distributors around the world”. Today the 5th & 6th generations of the Grant family can enjoy the fruits of their labour as they complete the Family Collector Series with the fantastic Glenfarclas 1976 40 Years Old VI.

2016 has certainly been an eventful year with a number of new vintage releases from the distillery. Glenfarclas is proud to show a commitment to age statement whiskies in an evolving market where keeping it classic yet creative presents an exciting challenge. We hope you enjoy this special Glenfarclas 1976 40 Years Old as much as George Grant will on his birthday!
